Best Clash Royale Decks for October 2026

Season 88 Shocktober is an all-nerf patch. Here are the five decks that came out on top.

TL;DR

The October 6 balance patch is all nerfs, zero buffs — Supercell's way of clearing the stage before the World Finals. Goblin Machine lost 22 % rocket damage, Goblin Giant dropped HP and range, Ice Wizard's slow was trimmed from 35 % to 30 %, and a wave of Evolution cards now need extra cycles. The decks that dodged the list didn't just survive — they climbed.

If you want a single answer: Hog 2.6 Cycle is the safest ladder pick for October 2026. It's cheap, it's off the nerf list, and it punishes every slow deck that's still rebuilding.

What Changed in the October Balance Update?

Supercell's official notes said it plainly: "With World Finals coming up, we're looking to freshen up the meta and flush out the repetitive, oppressive decks." Every change on the patch is a stat reduction — no card got buffed. When a patch is all nerfs, the archetypes that avoid the list get relatively stronger because their worst matchups just got weaker.

Here are the nerfs that matter most for deck-building:

  • Goblin Machine — rocket damage 391 → 304 (−22 %), HP 2 304 → 2 150.
  • Goblin Giant — HP 3 233 → 3 020, spear range 5.5 → 5, first-hit delay 0.4 s → 0.5 s.
  • Ice Wizard — slow effect 35 % → 30 %.
  • Prince — charge time 2 s → 2.5 s.
  • Skeletons — deploy/hit timing 1 s → 1.1 s.
  • Evolutions — Evo Baby Dragon now needs 2 cycles instead of 1; Evo Valkyrie, Evo Goblin Cage, Evo Cannon, Evo Wall Breakers, and Evo Witch all took hits.
  • Smaller nerfs to Berserker, Bomber, Furnace, Goblin Drill, Goblin Hut, Guards, Minions, Rage, Royal Chef, and Vines.

Notably, Ronin was not nerfed. It was actually buffed on September 1 (attack speed 1.4 s → 1.3 s), so it carries momentum into October.

Top 5 Decks for October 2026

1. Hog 2.6 Cycle

Hog Rider · Musketeer · Ice Golem · Cannon · Skeletons · Ice Spirit · Fireball · The Log

The highest-usage deck in the current ladder meta and the single safest pick this month. Defend cheaply with Cannon + Ice Golem + Skeletons, then cycle back to Hog Rider faster than your opponent can answer it. Against the nerfed Goblin shells you have a massive tempo advantage — their Goblin Machine rocket no longer two-shots a tower from chip, so you can ignore the chip and keep pressuring.

From my own ladder experience at 8 000 trophies, the key mistake I see players make is over-committing Musketeer at the bridge. She's your primary anti-air anchor — save her on defence, Fireball on offence. If you can keep your cycle at 2.6 average, you'll out-rotate most beatdown and Goblin decks this month.

2. P.E.K.K.A Bridge Spam

P.E.K.K.A · Battle Ram · Bandit · Royal Ghost · Electro Wizard · Minions · Fireball · Zap

A tempo bruiser that punishes exactly the slow, value-based decks the October patch was designed to flush out. P.E.K.K.A tanks incoming pushes, then Bandit and Battle Ram apply split-lane bridge pressure while the opponent is low on elixir. The deck thrives now that Ice Wizard, Evo Valkyrie, and Evo Witch — all strong defensive splash answers — are weaker.

I ran Bridge Spam exclusively through Season 86 and the biggest lesson is patience in single elixir. Don't P.E.K.K.A at the bridge before double — use her reactively on defence, then counter-push. In double elixir, opposite-lane Bandit + same-lane P.E.K.K.A is devastating when the opponent has already committed.

3. LavaLoon

Lava Hound · Balloon · Tombstone · Fireball · Zap · Skeleton Dragons · Minions · Miner

Air beatdown that sidesteps the nerf list entirely. The Ice Wizard slow reduction (35 % → 30 %) is a direct buff to incoming Balloons — one of the cleanest defensive answers to LavaLoon just got worse. Build your push behind Lava Hound from the back, support with Skeleton Dragons, and time Balloon to arrive at the tower exactly as the Hound pops.

The variant dominating top trail right now pairs Lava Hound with Rune Giant in a "Double Dragon" shell. If you have Rune Giant levelled, it's worth experimenting. Check our Lava Hound card guide for the full archetype breakdown.

4. Golem Beatdown

Golem · Night Witch · Lumberjack · Lightning · Tornado · Baby Dragon · Mega Minion · Barbarian Barrel

The heavy win condition that outscales everything. Golem's support cards avoided the chopping block, and the Goblin beatdown decks that used to compete in the same elixir range (Goblin Giant + Sparky, Goblin Giant + Lightning) are now weaker. That means fewer mirrors and more favourable matchups across the board.

Be careful against Hog 2.6 — it's a tough matchup when the Hog player cycles perfectly. Your best bet is pumping early (if you run Collector) or forcing defensive Golems in single elixir to build a push rather than pushing naked into a fast cycle. More details in our Golem card guide.

5. Log Bait

Goblin Barrel · Princess · Knight · Inferno Tower · Rocket · Goblin Gang · Ice Spirit · The Log

Spell-bait fundamentals at their finest. Log Bait thrives whenever opponents are forced to re-learn their defensive rotations — which is exactly what an all-nerf patch creates. When your opponent wastes The Log on Princess, punish with Goblin Barrel. When they hold Log for the Barrel, chip with Princess and Goblin Gang.

This is also an excellent free-to-play pick. The core cards (Goblin Barrel, Princess, Knight, spells) are cheap to level and don't lean on expensive legendaries. If Hog 2.6 doesn't click for you, try Log Bait as your F2P alternative this month.

What Rose and What Fell?

Fell: The Goblin family took the hardest hit. Goblin Machine dropped from a premier win condition to a situational one. Goblin Giant + Sparky lost HP, range, and tempo. Ice Wizard decks lose defensive stall. Prince cycle decks suffer from the slower charge.

Rose: Fast cycle and air beatdown. Aggressive decks that push tempo — Hog 2.6, Bridge Spam — gain the most. Beatdown archetypes untouched by the patch (Golem, LavaLoon) rise relative to the Goblin beatdown shells. Ronin decks carry September's buff forward.

How to Beat Nerfed Goblin Decks

Plenty of players will keep forcing Goblin Giant and Goblin Machine out of habit — knowing how to punish them is free trophies.

Against Goblin Giant: the new 0.5 s first-hit delay and shorter spear range mean a centre-placed Cannon or Tesla pulls it far more cleanly. Place your building in the centre and let the giant waste its slow first swing.

Against Goblin Machine: the 22 % rocket cut means it no longer two-shots a tower from a chip lead. You can afford to trade a cheap counter (Skeletons, Ice Golem) into it and ignore the rocket chip rather than panic-spending elixir.

The general rule after an all-nerf patch: slow decks are weaker and their pilots are mis-timing re-learned rotations. Apply tempo and make them react.

Best Free-to-Play Deck This Month

Hog 2.6 Cycle. Three reasons: the cards are common and cheap to level, the archetype rewards skill over card levels, and it's completely off the nerf list. A well-piloted Hog cycle at a slight level disadvantage still beats an over-levelled beatdown deck that's out of position.

If Hog isn't your style, Log Bait is the second-best F2P choice. Avoid committing gold to the nerfed Goblin cards this month — pouring upgrade materials into a card that just lost 22 % of its damage is bad economy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best Clash Royale deck in October 2026?

Hog 2.6 Cycle. Highest usage, entirely off the nerf list, directly counters the slow decks the patch weakened.

Did any cards get buffed in October 2026?

No. Supercell confirmed the October changes are solely nerfs ahead of the World Finals.

Is Goblin Machine still good after the nerf?

Playable but no longer top-tier. Rocket damage dropped 22 % and HP fell, so untouched win conditions like Hog Rider and Balloon are stronger picks.

Was Ronin nerfed?

No. Ronin avoided October's list and carries a September 1 buff (attack speed 1.4 s → 1.3 s) into the month.

When is the Clash Royale World Finals?

The October nerfs are the direct run-up to the competitive season. Expect further tuning if any archetype dominates the tournament scene.
