Overview

Graveyard is a 5-elixir Legendary spell that spawns about 15 skeletons one at a time over 10 seconds in a 4-tile radius anywhere on the arena. Dropped on the enemy Princess Tower, it is one of the hardest-to-answer win conditions in the game: the opponent needs splash + a mini-tank + air cover, and if any one of those pieces isn't in hand, the tower bleeds.

Current ladder usage sits around 4% per public ladder data, trending between 3.3% and 4.9% day-to-day. More importantly, Graveyard dominates the top of Path of Legends — the current #1 ranked Graveyard pilot is at 3730 trophies, well above the top of any other win condition this patch. 1. GK GY Bowler Evo Exec (Freeze Beatdown)

The Freeze-Graveyard combo is the top single deck in our sample at 5.23% share. The idea is simple and nasty: tank your Graveyard with Golden Knight, drop Freeze on their defense, and the skeletons do unanswered chip damage for the whole 10-second duration. Bowler + Executioner Evo + Tornado forms one of the strongest ground defenses in the game, Inferno Dragon shuts down any tank push. The deck trades slow but owns both towers in Double Elixir.

2. Giant GY EvoWitch Bowler

The classic Giant-Graveyard shell, played by more than half of the top-20 Graveyard trail. Giant eats the first wave, you Graveyard on the opposite tower while they are reacting, Witch Evo and Hero Bowler clear anything they drop in your lane. Night Witch adds air + bats, Snowball Evo resets Infernos. Flexible: the exact 8th card varies (Guards, Minions, Musketeer Evo, Zappies, Mini Pekka) based on local meta.

3. GY BBD Nado Control

The pure-control deck. No tank — you defend with Knight + Baby Dragon + Hero Ice Wizard behind Tornado pulls, Tombstone soaks big tanks, and your only offense is Knight-Graveyard-Poison in Double Elixir. The 3.4 average cycle lets you Poison every Graveyard, which is what makes the archetype work: skeletons spawning under a Poison cloud is unanswerable without big splash. Harder to pilot than the Giant version, but higher skill ceiling.

How to Pilot Graveyard

Center the spell on the tower, slightly back. Center placement means every skeleton walks to the tower. Edge placements leak skeletons past the tower where they do nothing.
Always pair with Poison or Freeze. A naked Graveyard loses to Valkyrie, Baby Dragon, even Bomber. Poison kills small splash before it can clear, Freeze stops splash from attacking for 4 seconds.
Tank first. Even in control decks, drop Giant or Knight at bridge first, Graveyard follows 2 seconds later on the tower. The tank keeps enemy mini-tanks away.
Punish empty hands. Count opponent's splash cards. If you just saw their Valkyrie and their Bomber, Graveyard goes down immediately — they can't answer.
Opposite-lane Graveyard in Double Elixir. If your main push is swallowed, Graveyard the other tower before they can rotate — the 5-elixir cost makes this trade favorable.

Hard Counters to Graveyard

Valkyrie / Dark Prince — splash + swing clears a whole Graveyard with one placement. The cleanest answer.
Baby Dragon / Phoenix — flying splash means they are not touched by the skeletons on the ground. Chip the tower back as a bonus.
Bomber + mini-tank — Bomber alone dies to the skeletons; behind a Knight or Ice Golem it clears the Graveyard efficiently.
Hero Ice Wizard — slow-attack splash. Lower damage per hit but keeps up with the trickle, buys time.
Tornado — pull skeletons together into the center of your Princess Tower, let the tower splash them. Combined with Fireball/Poison it's a one-elixir-up trade.
The Log — kills every skeleton touched, but needs tight timing because skeletons spawn continuously. Best used mid-Graveyard, not pre-emptively.

FAQ

Is Graveyard F2P-friendly?

Harder than most. Graveyard is Legendary and needs to be close to tower level to be effective (level 11+ skeletons survive The Log). Supporting cards like Poison, Baby Dragon, Knight, Barb Barrel are easier. Expect a few months of focused leveling.

Giant Graveyard or GK Freeze Graveyard — which to pick?

Giant Graveyard is more consistent and easier to pilot — the tank absorbs mistakes. GK Freeze has a higher ceiling and much better matchups into Pekka / Golem beatdown, but Freeze misreads lose games outright. Climb with Giant, swap to GK Freeze when you've learned the matchups.

Why does Graveyard dominate Path of Legends top but only 4% ladder usage?

The deck requires high Graveyard level + reading the opponent well. On ladder (lower levels, random matchups) a naked Graveyard gets stomped. At top Path of Legends everyone is max level and the Freeze/Poison combo value shows up — hence the usage skew toward top ranks.

Does Graveyard spawn skeletons on buildings?

Yes. You can drop Graveyard on an enemy Tombstone or Goblin Hut to kill it faster. Also useful to Graveyard your own tank + a building together to overload defense.
