What Is Clash Royale Higher Or Lower?
Higher or Lower (sometimes written as higher and lower, higher/lower, or higherorlower) is a lightning-fast Clash Royale card game built around one question: does the next card cost more or less elixir than the current one? Unlike the daily -dle modes, this is a pure score chase — how long can you keep guessing correctly?
It's the perfect side mode for when you've already solved today's Classic and Pixel puzzles and want something you can replay endlessly. A single run takes 30 seconds to several minutes depending on your streak. If you're used to daily-only formats like clashdle, royaledle, or clash dle, this is the unlimited-replay complement — no daily reset, no waiting, just keep going until your streak ends.
How To Play
- Two Clash Royale cards are shown side by side. The left card displays its elixir cost.
- Decide if the right card costs higher or lower elixir than the left.
- Tap the correct button. If right, the right card slides into the left slot and a new right card appears.
- Keep going. Your score increases with every correct call. One wrong guess ends the run.
- Beat your personal best and share the score.

Strategy: How To Get The Higher Or Lower Best Score
Everyone wants the highest score in higher or lower. Here is the exact process long-time players use to push their higher lower game high score into three digits:
- Anchor at 4. The average Clash Royale card costs about 4 elixir. On a mid-cost reference, "Higher" and "Lower" are close to 50/50 — go with your gut on cards you recognize.
- The extremes are gimmes. If the reference card is 1 elixir, always choose Higher. If it's 9 elixir, always Lower. Ties count as correct.
- Learn the 9-elixir club. Only Three Musketeers, Golem, and (in older metas) Sparky at 6. Memorize this and you'll never lose against a Golem match-up.
- Rarity is a proxy. Big P.E.K.K.A and Skeleton Giant "look" expensive and are (7 and 4 respectively — Skeleton Giant is a trap!). When in doubt, trust the visual mass.
- Take your time. There's no timer. Pause, think, then click.
- Practice unlimited runs. Since Higher or Lower has no daily limit, use it as unlimited training between daily puzzles. Every extra round improves your instinct for the highest higher lower score.
More Ways To Play
Higher or Lower is the only mode that isn't part of the shared daily puzzle. If you enjoy this, try the four daily card guessers:
- Classic — Clash Royale card guesser with stat clues.
- Pixel — guess the pixelated Clash Royale card.
- Emoji — guess the Clash Royale card by emoji.
- Description — read the lore, name the card.
An 8-Call Streak, Click by Click
Ties count as correct. This run is here so the "always Higher on 1, always Lower on 9" rule has a shape. Costs are the live card costs.
- Ice Spirit is showing at 1. The next card is Skeletons, also 1. Either button works. You are not clever for surviving this. You are not dead.
- Skeletons at 1, next is Hog Rider at 4. Higher. There is no card below 1, so Higher on a 1-cost card only loses to another 1-cost, and a tie still scores.
- Hog at 4, next is Musketeer at 4. Tie. If you did not know Musketeer was 4, this is the card to memorize, not the 9s. Most of the deck is 3, 4, or 5.
- Musketeer at 4, next is Golem at 8. Higher. An 8 after a 4 is the comfortable click.
- Golem at 8, next is Three Musketeers at 9. Higher. Three Musketeers is the only 9-elixir card in the pool. From a 9, the next click is Lower unless the next card is also 9, which means a tie.
- Three Musketeers at 9, next is Knight at 3. Lower. Nothing costs more than 9, so Lower is not a read. It is the rule.
- Knight at 3, next is Mini P.E.K.K.A at 4. Higher. This is the coin flip the streak actually tests. Knight and Mini P.E.K.K.A look like the same job. One is 3, one is 4.
- Mini P.E.K.K.A at 4, next is Skeletons at 1. Lower. The streak ends the first time you get cute on a 1 or a 9.
Memorizing these costs is the ladder version of the same skill: you cannot count elixir if you are still unsure what Knight costs when it hits the board.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Clash Royale Higher or Lower work?
Two Clash Royale cards appear side by side. You see the left card's elixir cost. Decide whether the right card costs more (Higher) or less (Lower) elixir. Correct answer? The right card slides left and a new card appears. Wrong? Game over.
How do I get the higher or lower best score?
Memorize the extremes first. Only two 1-elixir cards exist (Skeletons, Ice Spirit). Only three 9-elixir cards exist (Golem, Three Musketeers, Sparky). If you know the rare costs, you win 80% of guesses on autopilot. Play the odds on mid-range 3–5 elixir cards.
What are the ties in higher or lower?
If both cards cost the same elixir, either answer counts as correct. This is a small edge — when unsure, pick 'Higher' on low-cost cards and 'Lower' on high-cost cards to maximize tie chances.
Is Higher or Lower part of the daily puzzle?
No. Higher or Lower is a separate, always-available replayable score mode. Unlike Classic / Pixel / Emoji / Description, it doesn't reset once per day — you can play unlimited runs and chase your personal best.
Which cards are in the higher or lower pool?
Every officially released Clash Royale card is in rotation, weighted evenly. That includes Champions, Legendaries, Epics, Rares and Commons across all elixir costs from 1 to 9.
Any tips for a very long higher or lower streak?
First, keep an internal running total — the game shows the current card's cost, so you always know the reference. Second, use rarity as a proxy: Champions are always 3–5 elixir, Legendaries lean 3–6, big Epics like P.E.K.K.A and Golem lean high. Third, don't overthink — trust the split on 4/5 elixir cards, which are the most common.
Does higher or lower have Champions and evolutions?
Champions are included using their card cost (Skeleton King: 4, Mighty Miner: 4, Little Prince: 3). Card Evolutions share the base card's elixir cost and are not separately listed.
