What Is Description Mode?

Description mode is a text-only Clash Royale card guessing game. It uses the official flavor and ability text Supercell wrote for each C.R. card. You start with one sentence and reveal more with every wrong guess. It's the most literary of our modes and a favorite for players who actually read the card info screen in-game.

This mode rewards long-time Clash Royale knowledge. If you remember that Electro Giant "spawns a lightning zap when hit" or that Little Prince has "an ancient bond with his guardian," you'll solve most puzzles in 1–2 guesses. Players often reach this description-based clash royale card guesser from queries like clash royale wordle, clash wordle, clash royale guess, or the many typo variants (clashdle, clashle, clasherdle, clashrdle, clashidle, clashedle, clashroyaledle) — this mode gives them a completely different way to identify the daily card.

How It Works

  1. Read the first line of the mystery card's official description.
  2. Submit a card guess. If wrong, the next line of description is revealed.
  3. Continue until you guess correctly, or all description lines are revealed.
  4. Your score is based on how few guesses (and how few reveals) it took.

Description Keywords You Should Recognize

"Four-legged" / "charges"

Prince, Dark Prince, Ram Rider, Battle Ram, Royal Hogs.

"Chain lightning"

Electro Wizard, Electro Dragon, Zap, Lightning.

"On death" / "when defeated"

Golem, Lava Hound, Skeleton Barrel, Bomber, Balloon.

"Spawns" / "produces"

Barbarian Hut, Goblin Hut, Furnace, Tombstone, Elixir Golem.

"Targets buildings"

Hog Rider, Giant, Golem, Ram Rider, Battle Ram, Royal Hogs, Skeleton Giant.

"Champion ability"

One of the 5+ Champions (Skeleton King, Golden Knight, Mighty Miner, Little Prince, Boss Bandit, etc.).

Description Mode vs Other Guessing Formats

Most Clash Royale card guessing games — including clashdle unlimited, royaledle unlimited, royaledle infinite, and wordle clash royale spin-offs — focus on stat clues (see our own Classic guesser for that). Description mode is one of the few text-based variants of the format, closer to a lore quiz than a numbers puzzle. Together with our Pixel, Emoji, and Higher or Lower modes, it forms one of the most complete Clash Royale card guessing hubs available.

Tips From The Description Grinders

  • Guess for information, not certainty. Early on you don't know the card — pick a common Legendary to force the next reveal without wasting a wildly wrong guess.
  • Ability phrasing is unique. "Slows enemies with each strike" is exclusive to Ice Wizard. "Splits into two on defeat" is exclusive to Golem/Golemites.
  • Watch for lore words. Words like "mercenary," "royalty," or "prehistoric" often narrow the card family fast.
  • New Champions have longer descriptions. If the first line already mentions "Ability:", it's almost certainly a Champion.

A Word-by-Word Reveal

Teaching text only, using Hog Rider's public description. The mode opens three words and uncovers one more word per wrong guess. This is not today's puzzle.

  1. Open on "Fast melee troop." Do not guess. A lot of cards are fast melee troops. Giant's text starts with "Slow," so he is already out, but you do not have a name yet.
  2. The next words worth waiting for are "targets" and "buildings." One wrong guess only buys you "that." The guess after that is "targets." "Buildings" is the word that cuts the roster to troops that attack buildings. Battle Ram's text does not start this way — it starts with the two Barbarians and the log — so this opening is Hog's sentence, not the ram's.
  3. "Jump" is the confirmation, not the time to start thinking. If you wait for "Hog Riderrrrr" you have spent guesses the word "jump" already made free. Guess when the verb is unique. "Jumps," "splits," "dashes," and "spawns" identify more cards than the noun in front of them.

Knowing the text is not the same as knowing when to play the card. Hog's punish window is in when to attack the other lane.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Description mode work?

You are shown one line of the target card's official Clash Royale description. Every wrong guess reveals another sentence, from lore to abilities to stats. It's the most text-heavy mode and the most rewarding if you know the game's writing style.

Are the descriptions taken from the actual game?

Yes. All flavor text is the official in-game description from Clash Royale's card info screen. We only remove the card name to keep it a puzzle.

How is Description mode different from Classic?

Classic gives you numeric stat clues. Description gives you the game's own flavor text — the exact words Supercell wrote for each card. It rewards players who actually read card descriptions in-game.

How many description lines will I see?

Each card has 2 to 5 lines of official text. If you don't guess before all lines are revealed, the answer is shown at the end so you learn the card for next time.

Best tips to guess the Clash Royale card by description?

Look for signature phrases: 'four-legged' almost always means Prince or Ram Rider; 'chain lightning' means Electro Wizard, Electro Dragon or Zap; 'when defeated' or 'on death' points to spawn cards like Golem, Lava Hound, or Skeleton Barrel.

Does the daily description card match Classic and Pixel?

Yes — all daily modes (Classic, Pixel, Emoji, Description) share the same secret Clash Royale card each day. Only Higher or Lower is a separate replayable game.

Why does the same description phrase appear on multiple cards?

Some abilities (like 'targets ground troops') describe many cards. That's why the mode reveals lines progressively — the first line is often generic, but by line 2 or 3, the description becomes unique enough to identify.
