Clash Royale Win Conditions

Name the one card that is allowed to take the tower. Mega Knight is not that card.

Short Answer

A win condition in Clash Royale is the card your deck uses to damage a Crown Tower more than once, on purpose, when the opponent plays the cheap answer. Supercell's Mirror Challenge notes call it a card designed to inflict severe damage to the towers, and they say a deck can carry one or several. I add one test from Ultimate Champion games: delete the card and see if the other seven still have a way to take a tower.

Mega Knight fails that test. He targets troops. He punishes a push that was already committed, then walks. The tower damage in his decks comes from Miner, Wall Breakers, Ram Rider, Battle Ram, or Graveyard. Hog Rider, Royal Giant, Golem, Miner, Graveyard, and X-Bow pass.

What Counts

The clean case is a troop that targets buildings. Hog Rider, Giant, Golem, Royal Giant, Balloon, Electro Giant, Royal Hogs, and Wall Breakers walk toward buildings while troops hit them. You can play them into a correct defense and still get a hit, or a death spawn, or a connection from the piglets. That repeat is the plan.

P.E.K.K.A can delete a tower if nobody answers her. That is not a plan. On my ladder she stands in the middle and kills the other player's win condition, then walks up as leftover. Supercell's own P.E.K.K.A Miner example splits the jobs the same way: P.E.K.K.A for defense, Miner and Battle Ram for offense. The card that reaches the tower is the win condition. The card that clears the card that reaches the tower is not.

I write the win condition down before I copy a deck list. Arena 9 and the October lists name eight cards. Only one of them is allowed to be the reason the tower falls. The rest exist to get that card there, or to stop the opponent's version of it.

Five Ways a Card Reaches the Tower

Type Cards How the tower takes damage
Building troop Hog Rider, Royal Giant, Golem, Lava Hound, Giant, Balloon, Electro Giant, Wall Breakers, Royal Hogs They path to buildings. Troops in the way are a delay, not a new target.
Placed on the tower Miner, Graveyard, Goblin Barrel, Goblin Drill You choose the tile. There is no bridge to block.
Siege X-Bow, Mortar The building shoots a tower from your side. The defense is whatever keeps it alive for the lock.
Fast connection Battle Ram, Ram Rider, Wall Breakers They demand an answer at the bridge now. The punish only counts if this card is the one that connects. See when the other lane is a punish.
A pair Lava Hound plus Balloon, Miner plus Wall Breakers, Giant plus Graveyard One card soaks the answer. The other card is the damage. Neither is a spare.

Three Musketeers sit next to this list, not inside it. They deal the damage on a split, and they also have to defend. Supercell's Three Musketeers example names Battle Ram and Miner as the main win conditions for that reason. If your 3M deck has no Ram, no Miner, and no other card that touches the tower when the musketeers are cycling back, you do not have a second plan. You have a 9-elixir hole.

Mega Knight, P.E.K.K.A, Sparky, and the Rest

These are the cards deck lists get wrong. The damage number is high. The path to the tower is not.

Card Win condition? The job it actually has
Mega Knight No Jump punish, then a counterpush. Pair him with a card from the table above. How to spend less than 7 on the jump is in the Mega Knight counters.
P.E.K.K.A No Kills the tank. Battle Ram or Ram Rider is the tower card in her decks.
Elite Barbarians No Bridge punish. A Knight or an Ice Golem turns the pair around. They do not retarget onto the tower while a troop is hitting them.
Boss Bandit No Dash pressure and a defender. She helps a Ram or a Hog connect. She is not the connection.
Sparky Second plan only She needs a tank in front and a deck that still threatens the tower after a Zap or an Electro Wizard reset. Alone, she is a 6-elixir troop that stares at a skeleton.
Miner Yes Season 9 calls him a primary or secondary win condition. Chip on the tower, tank for Wall Breakers, or pull a defender off your real push.
Wall Breakers Yes They target buildings. A damage nerf changes how often they connect. It does not change what they are for.
Royal Ghost No Invisible pressure so the bridge card is answered late. He is the reason a Ram connects. He is not the Ram.

Five Questions Before You Call It One

I run these before I upgrade a card I just unlocked. The first three decide it. The last two catch a deck that only works when the opponent plays badly.

  1. If they play the cheap, correct answer, does this card still touch the tower or force a second card out of their hand?
  2. Can I try again later in the same match without being broke? That only works if you can count the elixir you will have when it dies.
  3. Are at least two of the other cards in the deck there to help this one connect?
  4. After they stop the first attempt, is there still a way to damage the tower, or was that attempt the whole game?
  5. If I swap this card for a Knight, do the other seven cards stop making sense?

Yes on 1, 2, and 3 means it is a main win condition. Yes on 5 only, with a no on 1, means it is a punish card. Elite Barbarians and Mega Knight land there. People call them win conditions because a missed answer loses the tower. A missed answer also loses the tower to a Prince. That does not make the Prince the plan.

Two Win Conditions in One Deck

Two is normal when the second card does something the first cannot. Lava Hound tanks hits that would pop a Balloon. Miner soaks a shot so Wall Breakers reach the tower. Giant stands on the Graveyard so the skeletons spawn under a body. In each pair I can point at the card that deals the damage and the card that buys the time.

Hog Rider, Golem, and X-Bow in the same eight cards is three decks sharing a hand. They want different spells, different cycle speeds, and a different amount of elixir left after you defend. I keep one main plan. The second threat has to answer a single question: what does it damage that the first card cannot reach? Rocket passes that question in a rocket-cycle deck, because the spell is the tower damage. In every other deck it does not. That line is already drawn in when a spell is worth it.

A Nerf Does Not Change the Job

Supercell called Electro Giant a win condition the day he shipped, and the May 2026 hit-speed change did not rename him. Wall Breakers after a damage cut still run at buildings. A card leaves the meta because the connection gets expensive, not because it starts targeting troops.

Use this page to pick the role. Use the card guides for the current decks and the counters. A balance patch is allowed to change which win condition I upgrade this month. It is not allowed to turn Mega Knight into one.

FAQ

What is a win condition in Clash Royale?

The card your deck uses to damage a Crown Tower more than once, even when the opponent answers it. Hog Rider, Miner, Graveyard, and X-Bow qualify. A troop that only takes a tower when ignored does not.

Is Mega Knight a win condition?

No. He targets troops. He punishes a committed push and starts a counterpush. Miner, Wall Breakers, Ram Rider, Battle Ram, or Graveyard does the tower damage.

Is P.E.K.K.A a win condition?

No. She defends and counterpushes. In her decks, Battle Ram or Ram Rider is the card that connects.

Is Miner a win condition?

Yes. Supercell calls him a primary or secondary win condition. You place him on the tower, so a building in the middle does not stop the chip.

Is Sparky a win condition?

Only as a second plan, behind a real tank. A reset removes her shot. The deck still needs another way to touch the tower.

Are Elite Barbarians a win condition?

No. They are a punish. A cheap distraction turns them off the tower, and they will chase it.

Can a deck have two win conditions?

Yes, when the second card covers a hole in the first. Lava Hound plus Balloon works. Hog plus Golem plus X-Bow does not.
